Aperitif, conviviality does not start at the table but begins earlier!
The aperitif, just became apericena, is the most common “alcoholic ritual” in Italy and in the world. It allows to detach yourself from everyday worries, delighting the taste and spending time in friendship, and for many it is the fixed appointment after work and weekend.
Aperitif or apericena, that to say if you want, it is that ritual of afternoon sociability that accompanies until dinner.
Do you know what is the meaning of the expression “making an aperitif”
Aperitif comes from latin “aperire” that is to open… the stomach! In order to stimulate the appetite. And the origin of aperitif even dates back to Greco-Roman era.
The Roman aperitif was a wine and honey’s cocktail, drunk before banquets, stimulated appetite. Ippocrate, in the old Greece, used aperitif for medical purposes, to generate appetite.
At the end of 1700, with the Vermouth birth (based on white wine, absinthe, herbs and spices) the aperitif became the ritual, sociability and commercial appointment. It was served with some pretzels and some olives, and very appreciated by Vittorio Emanuele, Cavour and Garibaldi, it has come down to our days.
And if it is true that in the last years it has gradually evolved to became apericena, the 20s of this “bubbles” we would say today and.., about Spritz, the key ingredienti s Prosecco.
